2008-09 SDWA FALL SCHEDULE

SAN DIEGO WRESTLING ASSOCIATION
Sometimes events beyond our control cause changes or cancellations in the schedule.
It's always good to check the schedule each week (Friday night) to see if there are any changes.

CHANGES FOR THE FALL:

There have been a number of changes in what will be wrestled in the FALL. Here's a synopsis of what has been decided and what is still in discussion:

Bantams, Midgets, Novice, Schoolboy, Cadet, and Junior divisions will wrestle FOLKSTYLE

Schoolboy, Cadet, and Junior divisions will wrestle FOLKSTYLE.

Open/Veterans division will wrestle FREESTYLE and GRECO-ROMAN.

Additionally a modified USAW style GRAPPLING at the Senior level only.

AWARDS: Medals for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place only.

USA WRESTLING MEMBERSHIP CARDS will be sold at the tournaments at a cost of $40.00 Cards are available for $30.00 +fee on-line). Please register with SDWA on-line! Coach's cards are ONLY available on-line at a cost of $47.00. {Coaches cards now require a background check} The background check fee of $17.00 is included in the $47.00 cost of card.

ENTRY FEE: $10.00 per tournament with USA Wrestling card for the 9/1/07-8/31/08 season; 2nd weight $8.00 (2 weights maximum per tournament); $5.00 late entry fee. NOTE: USAW cards from the spring expire on 8/31/2008. You must have a 2008-2009 USAW card to compete in the fall.

RULES: Modified USA Wrestling Rules for Folkstyle, Freestyle, and GR. Grappling per USA/FILA Wrestling Rules. Grappling for Seniors ONLY!.

WEIGH INS: 7:00 to 8:30 AM; $5.00 late entry fee...NO EXCEPTIONS

WRESTLING: Clinic starts at 9:00 AM. Open & Kids from 9:30 AM until done; Jrs. & Cadets from 10:00 AM until about 5:00 PM.

MATCHES:

FOLKSTYLE: All Divisions, 5 minutes running time (periods: 1-2-2).

FREESTYLE and GRECO-ROMAN: All Divisions, 6 minutes (periods: 2-2-2); match competition ends after a competitor wins 2 of 3 rounds.

GRAPPLING: All Divisions, 5 minutes running time (period: 5).

DIVISIONS & WEIGHTS:

ALL WEIGHTS AND DIVISIONS ARE SUBJECT TO BLOCK WEIGHTING ACCORDING TO THE ALLOWANCES OF USAW RULES.

Bantam Boys/Girls (born 2001-2002):40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 75+ (15 lbs. maximum difference).

Midget Boys/Girls (born 1999-2000): 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 87, 95, 103, 112, 120, 120+ (20 lb. maximum difference).

Novice Boys/Girls (born 1997-98): 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 105, 112, 120, 130, 140, 140+ (25 lb. maximum difference).

Schoolboy/girl (born 1995-96): 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 105, 110, 115, 120, 125, 130, 145, 165, 185, 205, 225, 250.

Cadet (born 1993-94) 84, 91, 98, 105, 112, 119, 125, 130, 135, 140, 145, 152, 160, 171, 189, 215, 285.

Junior (grades 9-12, and born after 8/31/89): 98, 105, 112, 119, 125, 130, 135, 140, 145, 152, 160, 171, 189, 215, 285.

Senior Men (born before 1990, ‘90-‘91 require medical certificate) 121, 132, 145.5, 163, 185, 211.5, 264.5.

Sr. Women (born before 1990, ’90-91 require medical certificate) 105.5, 112, 121, 130, 138.5, 147.5, 158.5.

GRAPPLING (Seniors only): Group Weights

SPECTATORS ADMISSION: $3.00 Admission charge. No charge for wrestlers and children 12 and under.

*The medical certificate attests the athlete is of sufficient physical and emotional maturity to participate at this level.
